A West Virginia  Republican lawmaker is accused of enticing a minor on Roblox and Snapchat and then engaging in sexual conduct with her, according to court documents.

Del. David Elliott Pritt, 36, began communicating with the 15-year-old girl in 2024 when she was in the eighth grade through the online game Roblox, then later on Snapchat, where he allegedly told her “he loved her,” according to the criminal complaint.

Pritt allegedly also sent sexually explicit photos of himself to the minor in 2025 and later initiated a physical relationship with the girl. He allegedly asked her to meet him in his classroom at Oak Hill High School, the school where Pritt taught, to engage in sexual activity at least five to ten times, the child told investigators.

Pritt’s physical encounters with the minor ended in January 2026, but he kept in contact with her on Snapchat through July and requested that she send him sexually explicit photos of herself. Pritt also told the minor not to tell anyone what had happened.

“It would be in the news. It would be awful. For both of us. I would lose my entire life,” he wrote in one message, according to the complaint.

On July 9, the girl’s family reported the alleged sexual abuse to law enforcement.

Pritt has been charged with enticing a minor. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Pritt was elected to represent the 50th District in Fayette County as a Democrat in the 2022 election, but switched parties in 2023.

He currently serves as assistant majority leader, according to West Virginia Watch.

House Speaker Roger Hanshaw (R) called on Pritt to resign.

“What Elliott Pritt is accused of doing is shocking, disgusting and disappointing in every way. My heart aches for his family, and if any part of these serious allegations are true, the law should be applied in full force,” said Hanshaw. “No child should ever be exploited by anyone, especially by the adults placed in positions of trust and charged with preparing young people, many of whom our statistics tell us unfortunately have no other caring adult figures in their lives. Effective immediately, Delegate Pritt has been removed from all official roles connected with his service as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates.”

“I urge Elliott Pritt, for the benefit of his family and the people of his District, to spare his students and his colleagues at every level the continued embarrassments and distractions and to resign from elected office as soon as he is able,” Hanshaw added.
