The next Republican presidential primary debate is one of three scheduled for January 2024–one in Iowa and two in New Hampshire.
When is the next Republican Primary debate?
The next Republican primary debate will be held on January 10 at 9 p.m. ET at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, less than a week before the caucuses.
The debate will be hosted by CNN and moderated by ‘State of the Union‘ co-anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
What are the qualifications for the next GOP primary debate.
To participate in the debate, candidates must meet certain requirements laid out by the network.
They are:
- Fulfill the requirements outlined in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution of the United States.
- File a Statement of Candidacy with the Federal Election Commission.
- Achieve at least 10% (without rounding) in three separate national and/or Iowa polls of Republican caucusgoers or primary voters that meet CNN’s standards for reporting. One of the three qualifying polls must be an approved poll of Iowa likely Republican caucusgoers.
- Agree to accept the rules and format of the debate.
The poll must be released no earlier than October 15 and no later than January 2 to be considered.
Which candidates qualify for the next Republican primary debate.
Former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis have met the requirements to participate in the debate. Both Haley and DeSantis have accepted the invitation to participate and said they hope to see Trump there.
The former president has a significant lead in the polls and has refused to part in the Republican primary debates.
Other candidates in the field have until January 2, 2024 to qualify for the debate.
