White House distances itself from Graham comments calling for the assassination of Vladimir Putin.

The White House is distancing itself from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C) who called for the assassination of Russian president Vladimir Putin to end the invasion into Ukraine.

On Thursday night, Graham said the only way the Russian invasion of Ukraine would end “is for somebody in Russia to take [Putin] out.”

“Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?” Graham wrote on Twitter.

On Friday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki distanced the administration from Graham’s comments as leaders grow increasingly concerned about Putin’s state of mind.

“That is not the position of the United States government and certainly not a statement you’d hear come from the mouth of anybody in this administration,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters.

“We are not advocating for killing the leader of a foreign country or regime change. That is not the policy of the United States,” Psaki added.
