The Trump administration called Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) a ‘p*ssy’ over expletive-laden text messages the retiring Republican senator sent to Donald Trump this year.

The texts were included in Tillis’ upcoming book, “How to Lose Friends and Antagonize Presidents.” In the texts, Tillis told Trump he refused to take his “bullshit” and that he would’ve “immediately told you to fuck yourself” if Trump had directly threatened him with a primary challenge, according to Politico.

“As I have said before, you NEVER threatened me with a primary challenge,” the senator wrote in a text on June 6. “I get that you may have me confused with so many Republicans that you have threatened in the past, but NEVER me. If you had ever threatened me directly with a primary, I would have immediately told you to f*ck yourself, and I would have announced my retirement immediately. Save those threats and head games for cowards and fools.”

In another text on May 22, in response to Trump calling him ‘weak and ineffective’ in a Truth Social rant, Tillis wrote: “I still want to help but I don’t take this bullsht from anyone, including you, Mr. President. Save that sht for the cowards who don’t care if you fail. I care if you fail and right now we are failing.”

Senior White House official Megan Messerly responded to the messages on Saturday, labeling Tillis a “p*ssy.

“Looks like a pussy move to send a text instead of actually saying it to someone’s face. Shows what kind of character he is,” Messerly told Playbook.

Tillis announced last year that he will not seek reelection in battleground North Carolina. The announcement came hours after Trump said he would start fielding primary challengers to run against Tillis after the senator voted against advancing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to a vote in the Senate.
