White House slams Texas governor over migrants dropped off in D.C on Christmas Eve during freezing temperatures.

The White House accused Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) of abandoning children on the side of the road in freezing temperatures after busloads of migrants were dropped off outside Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence in Washington, DC, on Christmas Eve.

More than 100 migrants arrived at the Naval Observatory on Saturday from Texas. The Naval Observatory is where Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff live.

“Governor Abbott abandoned children on the side of the road in below freezing temperatures on Christmas Eve without coordinating with any Federal or local authorities. This was a cruel, dangerous, and shameful stunt,” White House spokesman Abdullah Hasan said in a statement.

“As we have repeatedly said, we are willing to work with anyone — Republican or Democrat alike — on real solutions, like the comprehensive immigration reform and border security measures President Biden sent to Congress on his first day in office,” Hasan said, adding, “these political games accomplish nothing and only put lives in danger.”

Abbott has not claimed responsibility for the busload of migrants that arrived outside the VP’s residence on Christmas Eve, but he has been transporting migrants from Texas to Democratic controlled cities across the country since April to protest the Biden administration’s immigration policies.
