The White House has walked back comments President Joe Biden made about terrorists beheading children in Israel.
“I never really thought that I would see and have confirmed pictures of terrorists beheading children,” Biden said at a roundtable with Jewish community leaders on Wednesday.
A White House spokesperson later clarified that Biden had not seen any such photos and was basing his claims on comments made by a spokesman for Israel’s prime minister and news reports from the region, the Washington Post reports.
More than 1,200 civilians and Israeli troops were killed in a series of attacks on Saturday by the Hamas militant group. 22 Americans were also killed in the attack.
