The Tampa Bay Young Republicans issued an invitation to the Tate brothers to speak to their group.
Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan both face charges in Romania, including, rape, human trafficking and sexual intercourse with a minor.
The brothers returned to the United States on Thursday after a travel ban on them was lifted. Earlier this month the Financial Times reported that Trump administration officials had urged Romania to lift the travel restrictions.
Hours after their return, the Tampa Bay Young Republicans (TBYR) post a tweet welcoming them to Florida and invited the accused sex traffickers to come speak to the group.
“TBYR formally welcomes [Andrew Tate] & [Tristan Tate] to Florida. As free speech absolutists, the Tate’s haven’t been formally convicted of any crimes and are welcome to speak to our group,” they wrote. “We’re old enough to remember when a *’Convicted Felon.’* won the Presidency. #Freestate”
The group’s invitation comes after Florida’s governor Ron. DeSantis (R) said the Tate brothers are not welcome in the state.
“Florida is not a place where you’re welcome with that type of conduct,” he told reporters.
DeSantis also said his office had no involvement in the case and found out through the media that the brothers were traveling to Florida.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said he directed his office earlier Thursday to work with state law enforcement to conduct a “preliminary inquiry” into the Tate brothers.
“Florida has zero tolerance for human trafficking and violence against women,” he said in a statement on X. “If any of these alleged crimes trigger Florida jurisdiction, we will hold them accountable.”
