President Volodymyr Zelensky was involved in a car accident in Ukraine’s capital city of Kyiv on Wednesday, but he has suffered no serious injuries.
According to a statement from Zelensky’s press secretary, “a car collided with the car of the President of Ukraine and escort vehicles.”
The driver of the car that collided with Zelensky’s vehicle was treated by medics traveling with the president and transferred to an ambulance.
“The president was examined by a doctor, no serious injuries were found,” the statement said.
Law enforcement officials are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Zelensky visited the city of Izium earlier on Wednesday in the northeastern region of Kharkiv, according to CNN. Ukrainian forces retook the city from the Russians on Saturday as part of a major counteroffensive.
