A kindergarten class in Michigan accidentally drank margaritas during snack time.

According to Fox 2 Detroit a student at the Grand River Academy Livonia brought a bottle of ready-to-drink Jose Cuervo margaritas to school and her classmates drank it believing that it was juice. But the kindergartner who brought the drink knew it was alcoholic.

One student “felt woozy” and a “little dizzy” after a few sips.

“The girl poured it in her cup and she drank it and the girl ended up telling her what it is, and she went and told the teacher there is liquor in this cup, and the teacher gave her a funny face,” Dominique Zanders, a mother of one of the kindergartners said.

The school said members of staff called poison control and notified parents after they found out children were drinking margaritas.

“While we try to keep an eye on everything our students bring to school, that’s simply not possible,”Grand River Academy said in a statement. “It’s unfortunate that these types of adult beverages can be easily mistaken for child-friendly drinks.”

The school plans to take disciplinary action against the kindergartner who brought the mix to school, if necessary. But, some parents believe that it is the parents of the kindergartener who should be punished.

“If your child knows what it is, nothing wrong with it – but they should know not to touch it,” one parent said. “That it’s not for kids.”
