Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) whose campaign for US senate is centered around his ‘local Michigan roots’ is actually a legal resident of Florida.
Rogers who represented Michigan’s 8th congressional district in the House from 2001 to 2015, is running to represent the state in the Senate this around.
But Austin Cook, the communications director for Rep. Elissa Slotkin—who is seeking the Democratic nomination—revealed that Rogers is registered to vote in Florida after the carpetbagging Republican wrote a post on X/Twitter promoting his ‘local roots’.
“Fun fact: @MikeRogersForMI is literally registered to vote in Florida *right now*” Cook wrote.
The Democratic staffer also attached a screenshot showing that Rogers has been registered to vote in Cape Coral, Florida, since January 2022. His party is listed as the Republican Party of Florida, and his voter status was “active.”
Rogers reportedly owns a 4,751-square-foot home in Cape Coral, Florida, valued at $1.7 million. It was his official residence until his decision to run for the U.S. Senate, according to Michigan Advance.
