Andrew Cuomo says Trump investigations are feeding the “cancer in our body politic”

Andrew Cuomo slams Trump investigations as "cancer in our body politic"

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo slammed the New York and Georgia investigations into former President Trump as being part of a “cancer in our body politic,” and suggest they could be politically motivated, according to The Hill.

In an interview with WABC 770, Cuomo said he “doesn’t understand” why Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) is “putting such an emphasis” on the case.

Bragg’s office is investigating Trump for alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election. The former president is also under a different investigation in New York being led by the state’s Attorney General Letitia James (D), looking into his organization. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) is also investigating Trump for his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

“It’s a coincidence that Bragg goes after Trump and Tish James goes after Trump and Georgia goes after Trump. That’s all a coincidence,” Cuomo scoffed.

“I don’t believe a Democratic prosecutor just happens to be attacking a Republican. I don’t believe a Republican prosecutor just happens to be attacking a Democrat. I think it’s all politics, and I think that’s what the people of this country are saying,” he said.

“I think it feeds the cynicism, and that’s the cancer in our body politic right now,” Cuomo added.

Cuomo, a former rising figure in the Democratic Party, resigned from office in disgrace in 2021 after an investigation found that he sexually harassed multiple women.
