Black woman who went viral for hugging Donald Trump is a conservative activist with ties to the BLEXIT movement.

Earlier this week an embrace between a Black woman and Donald Trump went viral and was portrayed throughout conservative media as evidence of the former president making inroads with Black voters.

But that is not the case.

Michaelah Montgomery hugged Trump at an Atlanta Chick-fil-A on Wednesday in front of reporters and told the former president, “I don’t care what the media tells you, Mr. Trump, we support you.”

Montgomery later appeared on Fox News Friday where she claimed people were “excited” to see Trump and that she has learned from young people in her grassroots organization, ‘Conserve the Culture’ that they believe Trump is “honest,” compared to Biden, who she said, “locked up a lot of people who look like me,” according to Newsweek.

The Trump campaign promoted the clip on social media, but conveniently failed to mention that Montgomery is a longtime Republican activist with ties to the BLEXIT movement.

The BLEXIT movement was founded by far-right activist Candace Owens in 2018 to encourage minorities, including African Americans, to leave the Democratic Party and join Republicans.

Montgomery has been the Atlanta city director for BLEXIT since March 2022 and has reportedly interned for the Georgia Republican Party.
