Arizona Republican Senate candidate, Blake Masters, released a statement on Saturday saying he will not concede the election to Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly until all the votes are counted.
“For my people who knocked doors in the 115 degree heat, and for the million+ Arizonans who put their faith in me, we are going to make sure that every legal vote is counted,” Masters said.
“If, at the end, Senator Kelly has more of them than I do, then I will congratulate him on a hard-fought victory. But voters decide, not the media; let’s count the votes,” he continued.
Several outlets have projected that Kelly defeated the Trump-backed Masters in the crucial swing state of Arizona on Friday.
With 89 percent of the votes in, Kelly received 51.8 percent to Masters’ 46.1 percent. Kelly is currently ahead by approximately 132,000 votes. About 285,000 ballots are left to be counted, a majority of which are from large Democrat friendly counties in the state.
