Republican candidate in California’s gubernatorial recall election, Caitlyn Jenner says she supports a woman’s right to choose but also defended Texas new law that bans abortion at 6 weeks of pregnancy.
Jenner, who is polling at just 1 percent in the recall election race made the rounds in the media on Tuesday to save her failing campaign .
During an appearance on CNN’s New Day Jenner was asked about her views on the controversial Texas law that bans abortion at six weeks of pregnancy and deputizes private citizens to enforce the law.
“I am for a woman’s right to choose,” Jenner said “I am also for a state having the ability to make their own laws. So I support Texas in that decision, that’s their decision. But as far as being a woman’s right to choose, I don’t see any changes in our laws in California in the future.”
Anchor Brianna Keilar press Jenner on trying to have it both ways.
“But you’re fine with the Texas law? Even though you say that you support abortion rights, you are fine with a law that essentially outlaws abortion?” she asked.
“I think that they have the right in their state to do what they want to do. Now, do I agree with the decision or not? No. To be honest with you, I actually probably do not agree with the decision. But I agree that they do have the right to make their own decision,” Jenner said.
