Only five Republican senators have acknowledged Joe Biden as the President-elect. The rest have remained quiet, at least in public not daring to speak up against Trump while he attacks our electoral system.
On Sunday, veteran journalist Carl Bernstein named 21 GOP senators, saying that in private conversations, they “have repeatedly expressed extreme contempt for Trump” and his fitness for office.

The 21 GOP senators are: Martha McSally (Ariz.), John Cornyn (Texas), Rick Scott (Fla.), John Thune (S.D.), Rob Portman (Ohio), Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), Ben Sasse (Neb.), Roy Blunt (Mo.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Mitt Romney (Utah), Mike Braun (Ind), Todd Young (Ind.), Tim Scott (S.D.), Marco Rubio (Fla.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Richard Burr (N.C.), Pat Toomey (Pa.), Jerry Moran (Kansas), Pat Roberts (Kansas), and Richard Shelby (Ala.).
Collins, Murkowski, Sasse, Romney and Toomey are the only Republican senators to acknowledge Biden as the President-elect.
“With few exceptions their craven public silence has helped enable Trump’s most grievous conduct — including undermining and discrediting the U.S. electoral system,” Bernstein added.
