Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) for attending Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York where the former president is accused of paying off a porn star and lying about it.
“Have to admit I’m surprised that Speaker Johnson wants to be in the ‘I cheated on my wife with a porn star’ club,” Cheney wrote in a post on X/Twitter. “I guess he’s not that concerned with teaching morality to our young people after all.”
Johnson, a devout Christian who monitors his porn intake with his son, will reportedly attend Trump’s criminal trial in New York where the for president is facing 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to pay hush money to a porn star in a scheme to influence the 2016 presidential election.
Johnson is the latest Republican lawmaker to attended Trump’s criminal trial after Sens. J.D. Vance (Ohio), Tommy Tuberville (Ala.) and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (NY) showed up on Monday.
Eric Trump is the only member of the former president’s family to show up at the trial so far.
