Fani Willis calls Jim Jordan a "clown" who is trying to interfere in Trump's case.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) referred to House Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) as a ‘clown’ for trying to interfere in her office’s election subversion case against Donald Trump.

Jordan, a staunch Trump ally, launched an investigation into Willis’ office alleged misuse of federal funds and has threatened to hold her in contempt if she did not comply with a subpoena for documents.

“Jim Jordan has, time after time after time, attacked my office with no legitimate purpose. Anyone who knows Jim Jordan’s history knows that he only has the purpose of trying to interfere in a criminal investigation,” Willis told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Monday.

“We have complied with his subpoenas, but yet he continues his attacks to try to interfere in a criminal investigation,” she continued. “All while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues, and not one time has he used his position to try to investigate people who are attacking me and others who are attacking others legitimately doing their job, making him illegitimate in his position. And it’s disgusting.”

Willis added that now state lawmakers in Georgia are following Jordan’s lead in attacking her.

“Now, at the state level, they’ve decided to follow this clown’s lead,” she said. “And they want to now try to interfere in an investigation and it’s not legitimate either and so it shall fail and it’s not going to go anywhere, but they are trying to attack me at every level.”

Willis is leading the prosecution against Trump and 18 other co-defendants over their role in trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state.

Earlier this year, special prosecutor Nathan Wade, Willis’ former romantic partner, stepped down from the case after Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled that Willis and her office may remain on the case if Wade stepped aside.

Willis is up for re-election this year and faces a democratic challenger in the primary on Tuesday. If she wins, Willis will face a Republican candidate in November.
