Trump says he is ‘looking at” restricting access to birth control.

Trump suggests he is open to restricting access to birth control.

Donald Trump said in an interview on Tuesday that he is “looking at” allowing states to restrict access to contraception.

In an interview with KDKA, a local CBS affiliate in Pittsburgh, anchor Jon Delano asked Trump if he would “support any restrictions on a person’s right to contraception?”

“We’re looking at that and I’m going to have a policy on that very shortly,” Trump responded, according to a clip shared by Mediaite.

Pressed on whether that meant he may support some restrictions on contraception, Trump responded: “Things really do have a lot to do with the states, and some states are going to have different policy than others.”

“I’m coming out within a week or so with a very comprehensive policy, which I’ll get to you immediately,” he added.

Trump later insisted in a post on Truth Social that he will “NEVER” restrict access to contraception, calling in a “Democrat fabricated lie,” despite saying he would in the clip of the interview that aired hours earlier.

“I HAVE NEVER, AND WILL NEVER ADVOCATE IMPOSING RESTRICTIONS ON BIRTH CONTROL, or other contraceptives,” Trump wrote. “This is a Democrat fabricated lie, MISINFORMATION/DISINFORMATION, because they have nothing else to run on except FAILURE, POVERTY, AND DEATH. I DO NOT SUPPORT A BAN ON BIRTH CONTROL, AND NEITHER WILL THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!”

The Biden campaign issued a statement slamming Trump for supporting “bans on contraception, including the morning after pill.”

“Women across the country are already suffering from Donald Trump’s post-Roe nightmare, and if he wins a second term, it’s clear he wants to go even further by restricting access to birth control and emergency contraceptives,” Biden-Harris spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said.
