Fanone slams Republicans and Trump as “petty bitches” for refusing to hang plaque honoring Jan. 6 cops.

Former DC police officer Michael Fanone referred to Donald Trump and congressional Republicans as “petty bitches” for refusing to hang a plaque honoring police officers who defended the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

“They’re living in fear, but they’re also, I mean listen, I think he’s a petty bitch,” Fanone told Jim Acosta on his Substack show. “And I think most Republican leaders are petty bitches. Just like their dear leader Donald Trump is a petty bitch.”

In 2022, Congress passed a law requiring the plaque to be permanently placed at the Capitol by March 2023. Republicans managed to stall that process and has announced no plans to hang the plaque.

Congressional Republicans do not want to upset Trump who has called his supporters who attack the Capitol on Jan. 6 “patriots” and pardoned them after they beat cops, ransacked the Capitol and hunt down lawmakers after storming the building to try and overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Fanone was one of the 138 police officers who were injured that day. He was dragged from a police line defending the Capitol into the mob of Trump supporters where he was beaten and suffered a heart attack. He later resigned from the force.

While speaking to Acosta, Fanone expressed frustration over Republicans dragging their feet about the plaque and said he has some ideas about where House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) can hang it now.

“I have a message for Mike Johnson as to where they should place the plaque,” Fanone said. “I think that it would be perfect if the plaque was shoved up his ass.”

“The cops that I talked to, the cops that were in the Lower West Tunnel, the cops that fought for hour after hour after hour against this relentless brutal assault Trump supporters, they’re tired of it,” he added. “They’re sick of hearing about it. They know how this country feels about them. They know how Republican lawmakers feel about them. They’re tired of being pandered to. They’re not going to beg for some award.”

Fanone continued: “They’re certainly not going to beg Mike Johnson to put this plaque up. Me telling him to shove it up his ass, that’s coming from a hell of a whole lot of cops that fought their asses off on January 6th.”

While Fanone has his ideas about where the plaque should be placed, congressional Democrats are continuing their fight to have it installed  at the Capitol.

This week, Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) introduced a resolution which would direct Capitol Police to install the plaque. He shared a video from the basement of the Capitol where the plaque currently sits “collecting dust.”

House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) also called on Johnson to hang the plaque, saying it is an appropriate way to recognize first responders during Police Week.

“It’s time to honor those heroic officers,” Jeffries said during a speech on the House floor. “It’s unconscionable, it’s unpatriotic, it’s unfathomable, it’s unacceptable and it’s un-American. You need to honor those officer and treat them with the dignity and respect that they deserve.”
