Federal judge says Justice Sotomayer was also a target for the gunman who killed her son.

The gunman who killed US District Court Judge Esther Salas’ son last year and wounded her husband also had his sights set on Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayer.

According to Salas, police found evidence that Justice Sotomayer was a target after they searched a locker used by the gunman, Roy Den Hollander.

“They found another gun, a Glock, more ammunition. But the most troubling thing they found was a manila folder with a workup on Justice Sonia Sotomayor,” Salas said in a CBS News “60 Minutes” interview to air this Sunday, CNN reports.

Hollander took his own life after killing Salas’ son.

A spokesperson for the Supreme Court declined to comment on the report, saying the court does “not discuss security as a matter of court policy.”

Salas is currently working to pass legislation that would protect judges’ personally identifiable information from publication on public internet site, CNN reports.

“Who knows what could have happened?” Salas said. “But we need to understand that judges are at risk. That we put ourselves in great danger every day for doing our jobs.”
