A former teacher at a private Christian school in Perry, Florida was arrested after allegedly twerking on a student at prom.
Julie Hoover, 39, a former teacher at Point of Grace Christian School was arrested on Tuesday and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and soliciting or engaging in sexual conduct against a student by an authority figure.
Hoover was released from custody about half an hour after she was arrested.
According to WCTV, the 17-year-old told authorities that Hoover approached him while he was near the dance floor at the April 8 prom “and began twerking on him (rubbing her buttocks on him),” making him feel uncomfortable. At least two other people tried to get between Hoover and the student to force her to stop.
The student also told authorities that Hoover pressured him to drink alcohol at the event, even going as far as to force the straw from her cup into his mouth. An administrator told investigators staff had the alcohol in a back room to drink after the event, when students left.
This was not Hoover’s first arrest for sexual misconduct involving a minor. She was arrested in June for sexting with an 18-year-old student.
The mother of the student reported to police that Hoover was exchanging sexually explicit text messages with her son. Hoover, allegedly was arranging for the student to sneak into her home while her husband was at work.
The school told local news outlets that Hoover is no longer employed at the institution.
