Police in Florida arrested a pastor Friday for possession of child pornography.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said they received information on Thursday that Jonathan Edward Elwing, a 43-year old senior pastor of Palm View Baptist Church in Palmetto, Florida, used cryptocurrency to purchase child sexual abuse material online.
Officers executed a search warrant on Friday at Elwing’s home and church and found four “sexually explicit photos of children” on his cellphone.
The pastor was arrested and charged with four counts of possession of child sexual abuse images.
Elwing resigned from his position as pastor of the church before being arrested.
