A former Marine was planning to murder Jews and minorities to “decrease the number of minority residents” and replace them with more white people by raping white women, according to Rolling Stone.
Matthew Belanger, a member of a neo-Nazi organization called Rapekrieg, was arrested on June 10 in New York and charged with making false statements to a federal firearms licensee in order to make straw purchases of an assault rifle and a handgun.
Prosecutors say an unnamed New York police officer purchased guns on at least two occasions for Belanger–an assault rifle while he was stationed in Hawaii and a Luger handgun “which was used by the Nazi armed forces during World War II,” for almost $1,000.
According to court documents, while serving as a Marine, Belanger trained with Rapekrieg using airsoft guns in the woods of Long Island as part of a plot to attack the “Zionist Order of Governments.” The FBI began investigating Rapekrieg in 2020 and learned more about Belanger’s participation in the movement from two unnamed witnesses.
The witnesses told the FBI that Belanger worked on a document plotting to attack Jews. And in 2019, he and other members of the group conducted surveillance on an unnamed synagogue and made plans to attack it with Molotov cocktails.
Belanger became the subject of an FBI Joint Terrorism Taskforce investigation into allegedly plotting to “engage in widespread homicide and sexual assault,” based around a White supremacist theory about minorities replacing white Americans. Court documents say Belanger planned to decrease the population of minority Americans through mass shootings and increase the number of white Americans by raping “white women to increase the production of white children.”
Another witness said Belanger discussed the potential rape of an unnamed girl in an encrypted group chat with Rapekrieg members. He sent photos of the girl in high school and describe her as a “good find” and said he “could possibly get her pretty easy rn.”
Belanger has not been charged with a crime related to his alleged membership in Rapekrieg, according to Rolling Stone. However, a federal judge ruled that he should remain in detention at a Honolulu prison because he is a danger to the community.
He was in the Marine Corps from 2019 through May 2021, when he was given an Other Than Honorable Discharge.
Investigators and Marine Corp officials who searched his barracks housing and electronic devices said in court filings that they found “1,950 images, videos and documents related to white power groups, Nazi literature, brutality towards the Jewish community, brutality towards women, rape, [and] mass murderers,” including convicted domestic terrorist Dylan Roof.
