Former RNC chairman says Trump is not fit to lead the country.

Former chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) Marc Racicot blasted Donald Trump for praising Russian President Vladimir Putin amid the Ukraine invasion, saying it shows Trump is “not fit to lead this country.”

The “essential qualities of leadership and human character” are decency, honesty, humility, honor and faithfulness,” Racicot wrote in an article in the Independent Record. “Donald Trump does not possess those essential qualities of character that leave him fit to lead this nation, most especially in a time of crisis,” Racicot added.

Racicot pointed to comments Trump made amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Trump previously called Russian President Vladimir Putin “smart” and “savvy” for his justification of this plan to invade another country.

“The vicious actions of the Russian president have been universally condemned by decent people everywhere. But, not by Donald Trump,” Racicot wrote.

Trump also told GOP donors that the US should put the Chinese Flag on F-22 fighter jets and “bomb the shit” out of Russia and blame it on China then stand back and watch the two countries fight.

Trump’s comments revealed a “complete lack of maturity and morality…also expose an appalling lack of compassion for the death and destruction of the lives, culture and country of the people of Ukraine. And they remind us once more, how critical the character and stability of one person can be,” Racicot wrote.

Racicot was a former governor of Montana from 1993-2001. He served as the chairman of the RNC from 2001-2003.
