Former Trump White House lawyer Ty Cobb gave a brutal analysis of the former president’s current attorney Alina Habba’s performance after the bombshell $83.3 million ruling in the E. Jean Carroll defamation case.
In an interview on CNN’s OutFront, host Erin Burnett asked Cobb how he thought Habba handled the case.
“She handled it in the mafia way,” Cobb responded.
“She’s done his bidding,” he continued. “She’s articulated his political narrative of victimization and unfairness in the judicial system and made some outlandish claims, including the conflict claims, and she lost.So she’s a loser. I’m not surprised that Trump is looking for appellate representation.”
Habba represented Trump in the trial last week that ended with a jury ordering the former president to pay Carroll $83.3 million in damages for defaming her.
Trump revealed on his Truth Social app Wednesday that he is looking for attorneys to represent him in his appeal of the verdict.
Trump made no mention of Habba in the post, but her spokesperson told Business Insider that she is still “very much representing President Trump.”
“Bringing in an appellate specialist is common practice in litigation and comparing a trial lawyer and an appellate lawyer is similar to comparing a brain surgeon and a heart surgeon,” the spokesperson said.
