Fox News analyst warns Republicans are at risk of looking like a “do-nothing Congress”

Fox News host asks Johnson if Republicans are 'weaponizing the House' against Democrats.

Brit Hume, Fox News’ chief political analyst warned Republicans they are at risk of looking like a “do-nothing Congress” after failing to act on key pieces of legislations.

House Republican leadership promised to kill a bipartisan Senate immigration bill which resulted in the proposal never making its way out of the Senate.

A second high profile legislation—a foreign aid package with funding for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan—that passed on a bipartisan vote in the Senate looks set to die in the House as well.

“I think the Republicans, in the meantime, however, are in danger of losing the advantage they have vis-à-vis Biden on the issue of the border and on the issue of Ukraine funding, Israel funding, funding to defend Taiwan because they are refusing to act on these measures that would deal with that,” Hume said on Fox News Wednesday.

“I think these are a couple of issues that put Republicans in peril of looking like literally a do-nothing Congress, which is something you can bet the Biden administration is going to be talking about going forward, and the Biden campaign as well,” Hume added.

The bipartisan Senate border, which Hume called “the strongest border protection bill that I’ve seen in my time in Washington” failed because Donald Trump urged his allies in Congress to sink the deal so he can run on the issue in November and to not give Biden a win before the election.

But, Hume argued that may backfire on Republicans as their legislative inaction might actually help improve Biden’s poll numbers.
