Fox News host Harris Faulkner wondered on Thursday whether people who vandalize Elon Musk’s Teslas could receive the death penalty.
Faulkner posed the question to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during an interview in which the Fox host put forth a hypothetical scenario in which someone left their children and/or pets unattended in an unsold Tesla at the dealership, according to Mediaite.
“I want to start someplace that no one’s talking about. What happens if there’s someone in one of these cars they blow up? That can happen! That becomes murder! Or worse. Terrorism plus!” Faulkner said.
“I know that on January 20th, the president signed into law, into, through an executive order, restoring the death penalty,” she continued.
“Do you think this sort of thing… And I hate to think it! People leave their children and pets in cars. I mean, you don’t know! This is deadly dangerous stuff these liberal protesters are playing with!” Faulkner added.
“Yes, it is. What I can tell you is that President Trump condemns this violence and he is determined to restore law and order in our country and he will ensure that the harshest penalties are pursued for those who are engaging in this vicious violence that we have seen targeted at this American company,” Leavitt answered.
Tesla is facing a wave of protests and attacks in which vehicles have been shot and set on fire, due to the company’s CEO Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration.
Musk is in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) which has fired thousands of federal workers, including veterans, shut down several agencies created by Congress which helped the poorest and most vulnerable and now has his sights sets on cutting Social Security.
Trump’s Attorney General Pam Bondi called the attacks and vandalism against Tesla vehicles “nothing short of domestic terrorism” and promised harsh punishments for perpetrators if they are caught.
