The producer of Borat revealed on Saturday that Donald Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani tried have the crew of the movie arrested.
Giuliani was featured in the film in a compromising scene with actress Maria Bakalova who was playing Borat’s 15-year-old daughter. He was seen reclining on a hotel room bed after an interview, appearing to expect sexual relations. Giuliani has denied that’s what he was doing.
“He claimed we were trying to extort him at the time, which we didn’t ask for anything,” Sarah Levinson the film’s producer said, according to Deadline. “He called all of his New York City cops and said extortion, which was a federal crime. Very smart to bring that up.”
Levinson said the hotel locked the crew out of the room where the scene was filmed, forcing them to rent new equipment. Luckily, the footage of Giuliani had already been safely transferred.
Bakalova was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the movie.
