Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) bizarrely claims that the FBI and the Department of Justice were planning to “assassinate” Donald Trump and she tried to warn him.
“I made sure that he knew,” Greene wrote in a post on X/Twitter. “The Biden DOJ and FBI were planning to assassinate Pres Trump and gave the green light. Does everyone get it yet???!!!! What are Republicans going to do about it? I tried to oust our Speaker who funded Biden’s DOJ AND FBI, but Democrats stopped it.”
The congresswoman was responding to a post from Trump on Truth Social in which the former president claims that the DOJ “AUTHORIZED THE FBI TO USE DEADLY (LETHAL) FORCE” while executing a search warrant to retrieve classified documents from Mar-a-Lago in 2022.
Trump was not at the club when agents executed the warrant and as former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi noted it is standard language in a search warrant.
“Yep, every FBI operations order contains a reminder of FBI deadly force policy. Even for a search warrant,” Figliuzzi wrote. “Deadly force is always authorized if the required threat presents itself.”
The FBI also released a statement saying they followed standard protocol during the search.
“The FBI followed standard protocol in this search as we do for all search warrants, which includes a standard policy statement limiting the use of deadly force,” the FBI said, according to multiple reports.
“No one ordered additional steps to be taken and there was no departure from the norm in this matter,” the bureau added.
