James Comer says Hunter Biden's deposition was a 'huge success'.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) claims Hunter Biden’s closed-door deposition earlier this week was a “huge success”.

“The transcript shows that Hunter Biden wasn’t truthful. He accused his former business associates of lying. He admitted that Joe Biden did in fact get $40,000 that came from China,” Comer, who left the deposition early, told Fox News host Sean Hannity.

“So many things that we’ve been talking about in our investigation were proven in the deposition. I think the deposition was a huge success,” he added.

House Republicans launched an impeachment inquiry of President Biden last year, accusing him of benefiting from and being influenced by Hunter’s foreign business dealings while serving as vice-president.

Both Biden and his son have repeatedly denied that he had anything to do with Hunter’s dealings and Republicans haven’t provided any evidence to show he did.

The transcript shows Hunter denied his father’s involvement in his businesses, again during his closed-door deposition this week.

“I am here today to provide the Committees with the one uncontestable fact that should end the false premise of this inquiry: I did not involve my father in my business,” Hunter said. “Not while I was a practicing lawyer, not in my investments or transactions domestic or international, not as a board member, and not as an artist. Never.”

Despite this, and the fact that the FBI informant whose claim is at the heart of the impeachment probe was arrested by the agency for lying about the Bidens, Comer says the probe will continue and the next steps will be public hearings.

“The next phase now is to bring Hunter in for a public hearing and hear from the other Biden associates and let’s determine then who the American people think are telling the truth,” he said.
