Conservative commentator Katie Zacharia has been named the next White House press secretary, replacing Karoline Leavitt, the New York Times reported.

Zacharia currently serves as a senior communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, which runs Donald Trump’s Truth Social website. She also served as deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security for two months under former Secretary Kristi Noem.

Zacharia made several appearances in conservative media, including serving as a commentator on Newsmax and Fox News. She also interned for the Republican National Committee during the George W. Bush administration.

According to CNN, Trump recently called several close allies and advisers, including Leavitt, to seek their opinion on Zacharia. Sources familiar with the discussions said Trump sought Leavitt’s counsel before making a final decision and offering Zacharia the position.
