Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) blamed migrants for every problem faced by Americans under Donald Trump, including high prices and low wages.

In an interview on Fox News’ The Will Cain Show, the congressman laid the blame squarely on migrants for tough economic issues Americans are dealing with in Trump’s second term.

“If you ask yourself, you know, why are wages being suppressed? Why are rents very high? Why, whenever I go to the doctor’s office or the hospital, do I have to wait for three hours? All of that is driven by mass migration,” Gill said. “Ask yourself: why are we seeing a decline in the economic viability of American social institutions? Why are our roads less safe? All of that is driven by mass migration.”

“There’s something wrong in the country right now,” he added. “Wages are not keeping up with inflation. Rents are way too high. “I’m coming out of college with massive student loan debt. I’m having a hard time getting a job.”

The far-right lawmaker argued that young people are embracing Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates because these candidates are saying they can fix these issues. But Gill said it was Democratic policies like mass migration that caused the problem in the first place.

“Ask yourself, whenever you flood this country with millions of people, primarily illegal, but also large-scale legal immigration in certain areas, what does that do? That suppresses wages, while at the same time driving up the price of rent and the price of housing, so you’re getting hit on both fronts,” Gill said. “These are also the same people who are coming in and taking American jobs, making it harder to find work. They are the reason why whenever you go to the hospital, and you realize your doctor bill or your insurance bill is insane. …. I think that it all does go back to mass migration.”

Gill is married to Danielle D’Souza, the daughter of Indian-born far-right commentator Dinesh D’Souza, who came to the United States in 1978 as an exchange student from Mumbai, India.

Despite this, Gill is a staunch opponent of immigration and multiculturalism, usually earning reminders of his wife’s immigrant roots.

Earlier this year, Gill made headlines after cutting Danielle from a fundraising ad for his re-election campaign in Texas. Ironically, he made the post to push back against accusations that he is racist.
