Several of Donald Trump’s most ardent supporters lashed out at former ‘first buddy’ Elon Musk after the billionaire officially launched his ‘America Party.’
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!” Musk wrote on X, referring to a poll of his followers on his social media site. “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”
The move comes after Musk has been threatening for weeks to form a new party ahead of the midterms after Trump’s massive domestic policy legislation passed Congress. Musk has been critical of the legislation while also railing against uniparty control of DC.
The “America Party,” is a third political faction to compete with both Democrats and Republicans. However, Trump’s MAGA supporters see the move as a betrayal from Musk and believe it will only serve to help Democrats in future elections.
“Here @elonmusk outright admits his new party will siphon votes away from the GOP and give power to the radical Left Dems,” user Ben Hart wrote. “I used to think Elon was awesome. But he’s become evil. Or maybe he always was evil. It’s all just his ego.”
The reactions were similar among other MAGA influencers on X.
