Man armed with a knife tries to "stop the voting" at Wisconsin polling place.

A Wisconsin man wielding a knife was arrested on Tuesday at a polling place after he demanded that election workers “stop the voting.”

The West Bend Police Department said in a statement the 38-year-old man showed up at the West Bend Community Memorial Library around 12:30 with a knife and demanded that poll workers shut down the vote.

No one was hurt and there was not any other threat against the polling place, police say. However, voting was paused for half an hour while officers investigated the situation.

“All library staff, election officials, and citizens are safe and the polling site is re-opened,” West Bend police said.

“The police department would like to thank the library staff for taking quick action and voters who waited patiently to vote,” the statement added.

One poll worker at the site told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that voters and children were escorted into the voting room and the doors were shut.

“Heavy police presence,” the poll worker told the outlet. “They were all over the place.”
