A Louisiana man who was arrested at a Disney resort after refusing a temperature check told authorities that they can’t remove him because he paid $15,000.
According to a police report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the man identified as Kelly Sills, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, bypassed the Disney Springs medical screening in February and refused to get his temperature checked when asked by Disney employees.
Body cam footage obtained by NBC news shows Sills refusing to leave when asked to do so.
“I paid $15,000. You can’t trespass me if I paid $15,000,” Sills said in the video.
Sills allegedly argued with the security manager, before the manager told him he was “no longer welcome at the park today,” NBC News reports.
Later in the video Sills asked whether his temperature could be taken before he was forced to leave.
“Will you take my temperature before you kick me out, please?” he asked. The officer told him that his temperature will be taken when he’s at the jail.
Sills told the Washington Post in an interview that he was “in a bit of mood” after traveling that day and he would have “happily” had his temperature taken, but he walked in through an exit and never realized his mistake until it was too late.
He also blamed the security manager for escalating the incident and compared Disney security to Nazis and the mafia.
Sills pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor trespassing charge, according to court records.
