Protesters waving Nazi flags and carrying signs supporting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gathered outside Disney World theme park in Orlando on Saturday.
Video and photos posted to social media shows the protesters waving the red and black flags with swastikas. Some of the protesters also held posters supporting DeSantis who is running for president in 2024.
DeSantis has been locked in a feud with Disney for over a year after the company criticized his controversial ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill.
DeSantis responded by targeted the company’s special self-governing district and has threatened other measures. Disney then sued DeSantis and other government officials, accusing them of retaliating against the company for engaging in exercising its constitutional rights.
“It’s absolutely disgusting to see what has become a common presence of Nazis in Florida, and even more distributing when they are holding signs and flags that signal support for people like Governor DeSantis,” Rep. Anna Eskamani (D-Fla.) told USA Today. “Every person, regardless of political ideology, should condemn this. Florida is a state built on diversity and we will always stand against bigotry and hate.”
