Manchin slams Biden’s handling of classified documents: “Irresponsible”

Manchin: Everyone should be 'ashamed' of Congress.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) slammed President Joe Biden for his handling of classified documents after more files with classification markings were found in his Delaware home.

Last week, Biden told reporters in California that he “has no regrets” about his administration’s decision to not reveal the discovery of classified documents sooner, according to CBS. Manchin disagreed during his appearance on Meet the Press Sunday, saying the president “should have a lot of regrets” about the situation.

“To be held accountable and responsible is what we all are,” Manchin said. “And to put those in unsecured spaces is irresponsible.”

“It’s unbelievable how this could happen,” Manchin said in an interview on CNN’s ‘State of the Union‘. “It’s totally irresponsible.”

Manchin’s comments come after Biden’s attorney revealed on Saturday that the FBI found six documents with classification markings during a 13 hour consensual search of Biden’s Delaware home.

The items dated back to Biden’s time in the Senate and his tenure as vice president in the Obama administration.

It was the fourth time since November that classified materials were found at a private address of Biden’s.
