Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is calling for ‘space laser technology’ at the southern border to stop the flow of migrants.
The congresswoman introduce the bill as an amendment to the $26 billion Israel aid bill the House will vote on later this week. The package includes $1.2 billion for Israel’s ‘Iron Beam’ air-defense system.
“Israel has some of the best unmanned defense systems in the world,” Greene wrote in a post on X/Twitter. “I’ve previously voted to fund space lasers for Israel’s defense. America needs to take our national security seriously and deserves the same type of defense for our border that Israel has and proudly uses.”
Greene attached a copy of the proposed amendment that reads: “By the funds made available by this Act, such sums as necessary shall be used for the development of space laser technology on the southern border.”
Greene’s amendment comes after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced that the chamber will vote this weekend on three separate bills providing aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
Greene is vehemently opposed to sending aid to other countries and the amendment suggesting the use of ‘space laser technology’ is likely to slow things down.
It also signals that Greene is reverting to her old ways given her past promotion of a conspiracy theory about Jewish space lasers.
In 2018, Greene infamously blamed the deadly California wildfires on a space laser controlled by the Rothschilds, a prominent Jewish family.
Greene filed a motion to vacate Johnson last month after he struck a deal with Democrats on a bipartisan spending package that averted a government shutdown. She said the motion was a warning and didn’t give a specific timeline for a vote to remove the speaker.
However, she has suggested that passing foreign aid is her red line.
At least one other Republican, Kentucky Rep Thomas Massie has publicly joined Greene’s efforts to oust the speaker.
