Massie says he won’t vote for Johnson in speaker race: ‘You can pull all my fingernails out’

Massie backs Greene's effort to remove Mike Johnson as speaker.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) reaffirmed his opposition to Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Friday, saying that not even torture can change his mind.

In an interview with former Rep. Matt Gaetz on One America News Network on Thursday, Massie was asked if he would vote for Johnson if Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) would become the chairman of the influential committee.

“Oh no. You can pull all my fingernails out, you can shove bamboo up in them, you can start cutting off my fingers,” Massie said.

“I am not voting for Mike Johnson tomorrow, and you can take that to the bank,” he added.

Massie has been vocal in his opposition to Johnson, despite an endorsement from Donald Trump.

So far, the Kentucky Republican is the only member of the GOP House conference who has publicly said he will not support Johnson. But, there are at least half a dozen hardline conservative members of the House Republican who have refused to commit to supporting Johnson.

With a razor-thin majority in the next Congress, Johnson cannot afford to lose more than one Republican vote for Speaker, if every member is present and votes for a candidate.
