House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is demanding that President Joe Biden apologize for calling MAGA Republicans ‘semi-fascists’ last week.
“President Biden has chosen to divide, demean, and disparage his fellow Americans — Why? simply because they disagree with his policies. That is not leadership,” McCarthy said in his speech on Thursday ahead of Biden’s prime-time address.
“When the President speaks tonight at Independence Hall, the first lines out of his mouth should be to apologize for slandering tens of millions of Americans as fascists.”
Biden made the comments comparing the philosophy in the pro-Trump wing of the Republican party to semi-fascism in a private fundraiser last week.
“What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA philosophy,” Biden said. “It’s not just Trump it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something: It’s like semi-fascism.”
Jim Bognet, a Republican trying to unseat Rep. Matt Cartwright (D) in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District stood alongside McCarthy on Thursday and also slammed Biden for his semi-fascist remark.
“We’re mad that Joe Biden came here and called us fascist,” Bognet said, according to The Hill. “I want to remind folks, a Bernie Sanders supporter is the one who took a shot at Steve Scalise and other Republican congressmen. And we just had a crazy person go to Virginia and try to murder Brett Kavanaugh, because they didn’t agree with a Supreme Court decision. That is extremist.”
Fuck you, Kevin.
