Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) has been discharged from a rehab center and will recover at home following a fall at his home in June.

“Earlier today, I was discharged from the rehabilitation center to continue my recovery at home,” McConnell said in a statement.

“On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business,” he said.

He did not provide a timeline for his return to the Senate, which is expected to begin a five-week recess soon.

McConnell,84, was rushed to the hospital on June 14 after he was found unconscious at his home.

After weeks of silence, McConnell released a statement on July 12; he revealed that he was hospitalized after falling and losing consciousness.

McConnell’s office said in a statement later that month that the senator is still in a rehabilitation facility and will miss an annual picnic in Kentucky.

In a separate statement at the time, the Office of the Attending Physician said that McConnell is continuing a course of physical therapy and rehabilitation and that he is “not yet medically cleared to leave the rehab facility and return to the office.”
