Five people are dead and more than 40 others were injured after a car drove into a holiday parade in Waukesha, Wis. on Sunday, according to Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson.
Police Chief Thompson says police have “recovered” the suspect’s vehicle and that they have a person of interest they are investigating, KARE11 reports.
Those injured were taken to area hospitals.
Footage from the parade posted on The City of Waukesha Facebook page shows a red SUV blazing down the roadway after a marching band passes by while playing “Jingle Bells.”
Eyewitnesses say the driver of the car also fired shots out of the window while they sped through the parade.
One witness told WISN12 News that a group called The Dancing Grannies were among those hit by the car, with at least four members on the ground in front of their family. Members of another marching band were also struck.
