Co-founder of LinkedIn, Reid Hoffman hit Tesla CEO Elon Musk with a brutal reality check on Sunday after Musk accused Hoffman of funding protests against his EV company.
Tesla is facing a wave of protests due to Musk’s role as the head of DOGE, a task force leading efforts to slash federal government staffing and budgets. Over the weekend, more than 200 demonstrations took place at Tesla locations across the country as part of the “Tesla Takedown” movement.
Musk has accused wealthy Democrats of funding the protests without providing a shred of evidence. On Sunday, Musk agreed with a post on X claiming that Hoffman is a “major donor” to a group giving “up to $200 reimbursement for protestors.”
“Reid will have many layers between himself and the organizations attacking me, but the probability is 100% that Reid is funding them. 100%” Musk wrote.
Hoffman fired back telling Musk to consider the possibility that Tesla is facing protests because people don’t like him.
“The probability many, many people don’t like you? 100%” Hoffman wrote. “Probability that Tesla polls need to be rigged by bots to cover up the fact that people don’t like you? 100%. Probability you’d rather make shit up about me than fix your problems? 100%.”
