Police were called in at a Montana airport after Republican Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tx) clashed with members of staff because he missed the check in window for his flight.
A video posted to Reddit shows Cruz in a heated confrontation with airport employees at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport on Sunday. Cruz can be seen shaking his head in irritation at two United Airlines workers.
A law enforcement officer was sent to help handle the situation, according to Scott Humphrey, a deputy director at the airport.
“One of our Public Safety Officers (PSO) was in the ticket lobby and was asked to assist with a frustrated passenger at the United ticket counter (which is not unusual). The passenger had missed the check-in window for his flight and re-booking options were limited out of Bozeman due to Spring Break,”Humphrey told the Daily Mail. “Once travel options were explained to the passenger, he was rebooked and departed Bozeman later that evening.”
Humphrey added that the PSO did not know the frustrated customer was Sen. Cruz until after the incident.
Cruz left Bozeman and was able to make it was back to Washington, D.C., before the start of confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
