Police in Chesapeake, Virginia say the gunman who murdered six people at a Walmart on Tuesday legally purchased the firearm hours before the massacre.
The Chesapeake Police Department said the suspect, 31-year-old Andre Bing, the overnight “team lead” at the store, legally bought a 9mm handgun from a local store Tuesday morning.
Bing, who had no criminal history, walked into the employee break room after 10 p.m at the Walmart and immediately began shooting. He killed six people before turning the weapon on himself.
Five of the victims have been identified as Randy Blevins, 70, Lorenzo Gamble, 43, Tyneka Johnson, 22, Brian Pendleton, 38, Kellie Pyle, 52. The sixth victim is a 16-year-old boy who is not being named because he is a minor.
Police also revealed on Friday that they found a “Death note” on Bing’s phone asking God for forgiveness “for what I’m going to do”. The note also outlined Bing’s grievances with some of the employees at the store who he says gave him “evil twisted grins” mocked him and “celebrated my down fall.”
“That’s why they suffer the same fate as me,” the note added.
