Much attention has been paid to then-Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost’s social media activity before he was elected pope last week and chose the name Pope Leo XIV.
In several social media posts, then-Cardinal Prevost criticized the Trump administration’s immigration polices and even retweeted an article flat out calling Vice President JD Vance “wrong” for telling Fox News in an interview that God encouraged Christians to rank their love for others as he defended the administration’s immigration polices.
But, Pope Leo’s eldest brother, Louis Prevost, social media activity is the complete opposite, according to the Daily Beast.
Last month, Prevost, 73, reposted a video of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) from 1996 with the caption, “These f—ing liberals crying about tariffs is just unreal. Do they not know that there is a thing called video? Just listen to what this drunk c*nt has to say in the mid-90’s long before her husband had grindr dates.”
In other posts, Prevost calls for Democrats who met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to be arrested for treason and suggested that Democrats should be “shot and strung up.”
“Back in the earlier days of our country, before lefties took over and ruined our schools, all these lefty dems would’ve been tarred, feathered and rode out of town on a donkey, or worse, shot or strung up for screwing with people’s lives so much,” Prevost wrote last September.
Unlike the pope, Louis appears to be a huge fan of Trump, Vance and other right wing figures.
In one post, he compared Trump to Jesus Christ, writing, “Maybe you should go to one of his rallies, talk to other real people. Maybe even meet him if you‘re lucky. I did. Incredible man. Not comparing him to or saying he is like Christ, but both seem to be suffering the same treatment at the hands of the evil ones.”
He also praised JD Vance after his VP debate with Democratic vice-presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz, writing, “J.D. was phenomenal debating Tim Walz and the moderators. Very knowledgeable and well spoken. He will make a great VP and then, a great President.
Prevost’s other social media posts included pro-Elon Musk memes, anti-vaccination content, memes comparing Biden to Hitler, and posts promoting the big lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump, according to the Daily Beast.
Prevost, who currently lives in Port Charlotte, Florida, told the New York Times that while he and his brother disagree on some things, he still believes he will do a “bang-up job” as pope.
