48-year-old Guy Wesley Reffitt told his family that he was at the U.S. Capitol on January 6 to protect the country, then threatened to shoot his own children if they told the FBI about his involvement in the deadly attack because “traitors get shot.”
Reffitt was arrested on Monday in the Eastern District of Texas. He has been charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and obstruction of justice.

According to an affidavit, Reffitt’s adult son told authorities that Reffitt became aware that the FBI was looking for him and that he needed to “erase everything.”
He also allegedly threatened his minor daughter against reporting him or posting on social media, the affidavit states.
“Reffitt stated to daughter that if daughter were recording Reffitt or put this (meaning Reffitt’s comments) anywhere on social media, then daughter will have crossed the line, betrayed the family, and Reffitt was going to ‘put a bullet through’ daughter’s phone,” the affidavit reads.
On January 11, Reffitt’s wife said their children told her that he threatened to shoot them if they turned him in to the FBI.
“If you turn me in, you’re a traitor and you know what happens to traitors…traitors get shot,” Reffitt’s wife said, according to the affidavit.

But, his wife said they did not feel threatened because he’s “super passionate” and sometimes say things he doesn’t mean. Instead, she said they felt “disturbed” by his “extreme” statements.
She also told authorities that her husband is a member of ‘The Three Percenters’. Agents found comments he made on a website for the Texas based militia extremist group, the ‘Texas Freedom Force.”
Federal agents found an AR-15 rifle and a pistol when they searched his home. Reffitt said that he brought the pistol to D.C. but had disassembled it to comply with D.C. law.
