The attorney for Jacob Chansley a.k.a the ‘QAnon Shaman’ lashed out at Former President Donald Trump after his client was sentenced to prison on Wednesday.
Chansley was sentenced to 41 months in prison for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot after pleaded guilty to a single count of felony obstruction of an official proceeding in September.
Asked by a reporter what he would consider “appropriate accountability” for Trump, Chansley’s attorney, Albert Watkins went off.
“If you’re asking my opinion, my opinion is meaningless. I will say that I would probably be far more effective over a beer with former President Trump, even if he didn’t have a beer, because I understand he doesn’t drink beer, but I’d have a beer,” Watkins said. “And I’d tell him, ‘You know what? You’ve got a few fucking things to do. Including clearing this fucking mess up and taking care of a lot of the jackasses that you fucked up because of January 6.”
Chansley’s sentence for his role in the riot matches the longest sentence handed down to any Jan. 6 participant, following the 41-month sentence Scott Fairlam, a former mixed martial arts fighter received last week after pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer during the riot.
In addition to the prison term, Chansley was also ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution. He also must serve a period of three years of supervised release following completion of his prison term.
