Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has rehired a former staffer who was forced to resign over offensive tweets, according to NPR.
Marko Elez, 25, resigned last month after old racist tweets resurfaced including one where he declared that he was “racist before it was cool” and another where he said, “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.”
Elez was also accused of breaking data-sharing rules and potentially violated federal law when he shared personally identifiable Treasury Department information with several General Services Administration (GSA) official who were not authorized to view the data.
Despite this, a court filing on Saturday revealed that Elez was not only rehired, he was also given access to more sensitive data at the Department of Labor and four other agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
