Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) is already trying to blame diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts for the deadly collision between an American Airlines plane and Army helicopter over Washington, D.C.
In an interview on Fox Business, Ogles wondered if “DEI played a role” in the crash that killed all 60 passengers and four crews members in the plane and 3 soldiers in the helicopter.
“I think you have to look at this with eyes wide open, see what happened,” Ogles told host Maria Bartiromo. “You know, human error, was it some sort of equipment failure? Did DEI play a role in this type of thing?”
“Obviously, we’ll look at everything, check all the boxes,” he added.
DEI programs which are measures put in place to ensure that people of all backgrounds, including from historically marginalized groups, can thrive in organizations, have been under attack by Republicans.
Republicans have also falsely blame DEI measures for several tragedies, including the collapse of the Baltimore bridge after it was struck by a cargo ship.
However, there is no evidence to suggest the DEI measures caused these tragedies.
